Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library
The Friends are members of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the Bettendorf Public Library. The Friends contribute to the purchase of books and materials, to Library programs for adults and children, and to other expenditures beyond the Library's budget.

Funds are raised through an annual membership drive, two Book Fairs each year, collection of used books and magazines for re-sale, owning
and operating a copier for Library patrons, and an annual Holiday Bazaar.

Meetings are held monthly at the Library, September through June, on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:15 p.m.

For more information about volunteering with the Friends, contact the Bettendorf Public Library Volunteer Coordinator. For questions about the book fairs or bazaar, contact the Administrative Assistant at 563-344-4177.

Friends memberships can be purchased at the Book Fairs, or at the Service Desk at the Library.  The application can be also downloaded for printing here and mailed to the Library at 2950 Learning Campus Dr, Bettendorf, IA  52722.  Individual memberships are $5 and a family membership is $10.

Current Friends News

Spring is coming, which means it’s time for the semiannual Friends Book Sale! Mark your calendars for April 5, 6, and 7 so you don’t miss one of the best book bargains in town. Most books are priced at just 75¢ each! The Members Preview Sale will be held on Friday, April 5 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. If you are not already a Friends member, you can purchase a membership prior to the preview sale or at the door on the evening of the sale. An individual Friends membership costs $5; a family membership costs $10. Joining the Friends is an affordable way to support the Library and grants you access to preview sales. The Friends Book Sale will be open to nonmembers on April 6 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and April 7 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Do you have magazines or books in good condition that you no longer need but hate to throw away? Donate them to the Friends! The Friends are always in need of gently used materials for their ongoing magazine sale and semiannual book sales. Donations may be dropped off in the alcove located near the entrance to Dewey’s Café during the Library’s open hours.

The Friends meet the first Tuesday of each month from September through June, at 7:00 PM in the Library. Whether you are a member or not, please consider attending a meeting to see how this small working group of people manages to provide big dollars for the Library.
