Friends of the Bettendorf Public Library
The Friends are members of a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and promoting the Bettendorf Public Library. The Friends contribute to the purchase of books and materials, to Library programs for adults and children, and to other expenditures beyond the Library's budget.

Funds are raised through an annual membership drive, two Book Fairs each year, collection of used books and magazines for re-sale, owning
and operating a copier for Library patrons, and an annual Holiday Bazaar.

Meetings are held monthly at the Library, September through June, on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:15 p.m.

For more information about volunteering with the Friends, contact the Bettendorf Public Library Volunteer Coordinator. For questions about the book fairs or bazaar, contact the Administrative Assistant.

Friends memberships can be purchased at the Book Fairs, or at the Service Desk at the Library.  The application can be also downloaded for printing here and mailed to the Library at 2950 Learning Campus Dr, Bettendorf, IA  52722.  Individual memberships are $5 and a family membership is $10.

Current Friends News

Friends’ meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month, September through June at 7 p.m. in the Library.  The Friends would like to invite any interested persons to attend a meeting.  Meetings are kept to approximately an hour in length, so please consider attending whether you are a current Friends member or not.

The Friends Annual Membership Drive starts in February.  Letters are mailed to current and past members.  If you are currently a member, please consider renewing your membership.  If you are not a member, we ask that you think about joining the Friends.  Membership to the Friends is an easy way to support the Library, as all proceeds are used to provide programming and materials requested by the Library.  Memberships are on a calendar year basis, and an individual membership is only $5, a family membership, $10.  In addition to the opportunity to support the Library, membership allows entrance to the twice a year Book Fair preview sales on Friday nights.  Membership applications are available at the Library.

If you have good condition magazines and books that you no longer wish to keep but would like to find an alternative to throwing them away, please consider donating them to the Friends.  The ongoing magazine sale is always in need of new supplies of current magazines.  The twice a year Book Sales utilize your donated books.  All donations of books and magazines may be deposited during Library hours in the Friends’ area near the entrance to Dewey’s Café.

The Friends also provide an opportunity for purchasing a small number of books from a cart located near the Information Desk in the Library with books that may be purchased throughout the year.
